Today's weather

Cloudy morning, sunny afternoon

Today's birds

Parking spot in Bright

  • No bronzewing today
  • Swallows on the railing of the bridge on the way back. Swallow chicks flying, chasing parents, begging for food on the ground with little wing flutters.
  • Crimson rosella male telling us off for getting to close to his lady. She was peeking around the trunk, looking at a possible nest hole.

At home

  • Friar bird on the front tree/again - we noticed lots of friarbirds in the melaleucas opposite as they are all in flower
  • One wagtail around the back yard all day
  • A pair of fantails on the back fenceline, one flew up to our washing line
  • Kookaburras around this afternoon - in the walnut tree and fencelines. On on the apex of the roof of the people out the back.
  • Spinebills around in the side grevillea, but also lucky enough to see one on the kangaroo paw, used the lemon tree as a perch too!
  • Heard a call we didn't recognise "pweer pweer pweer pweer" I listened to some birds on theapp I though possible (BoP or kingfisher?) but no dice.

Other notes

  • the magpies have had two babies fledge this year. They nested in Bailey St. The juvs spend all the time following Lacey or Dad around. one seems ultra dependent, and one very independent. Only seen Mum a couple of times so think she may already be back on the nest? We did see a great cameo where she appeared, pecked the dependent baby a few times until it left Dad alone, then she left again. Haha.
  • the usuals around all the time: wattlebirds, new hollands, magpies, one or two bowerbirds, galahs
  • we noticed this morning we are seeing less crested pigeons in town at the moment, nesting?
