Today's birds

Morning in Bright

  • Three choughs yesterday, none today
  • No bronzewings this morning
  • Cute family of blue faced honey eaters outside Sixpence. The tuliptrees are all flowering. The adults in the trees and at least two babies hanging around the poles, sitting on the top, in the sunshine, on the lights, playing and yipping. Same thing yesterday.
  • Lots of swallows zooming around playfully at the main footbridge over the Ovens. Including one on the railing in the morning sun (as usual)
  • One kangaroo in the usual houses front yard this morning

At home

  • Spinebill in the kangaroo paws as we had dinner
  • The pink leptospermum we planted is in flower!
  • Magpie juvies still around being playful.

Other notes

  • We haven't seen the bronzewings for a week or so now. They looked like they might nest in the parking area again this year. The male was ooming, they were collecting sticks... but now they seem to have gone. A few weeks back there was a pair building a nest in the lower branches of one of the pines where we park. They gave that up, which is honestly good as it was too low considering all the activity in the area. We don't know if the new pair was actually the same pair? And no idea if they are the same as the pair(s?) that nested in the area last year.
