Current weather

It was super windy this afternoon. All the tomatoes were blown over and a few chilli pots. But most sadly, the front tree was blown over, snapped off at the base. No more front tree  :(

Recent birds

Morning in Bright

  • Heard the bronzewing again at the car spot this morning, after seeing a female yesterday
  • Saw a pied cormorant over the river. Just one!

At home

  • The koel has moved on... to Bright. Heard one there this morning, and everyone on the punkah FB is relieved haha
  • We're still seeing wrens! Lots of them! :D They really love our covered area and grevillea, we're seeing them a couple of times a day now, a large family, at least 8 of them.
  • Wattlebird is still a constant presence too, as well as the yellow faces, thornbills and fantails.
  • Lots more corellas and cockatoos in town now. Corellas flying and calling at night, and large flocks roosting in town. Photo from behind us this evening
  • Black cockatoos flying through  a lot too. Often hear them at the moment, throughout the day. And have seen some large groups.
  • The magpie family is still around.
  • Kookaburras are still around, haven't spotted one on our side fence for ages though.
  • I spotted a white-throated needletail last night. Just one!

Other notes

  • Wasp house is crammed now (photo below) This photo was a week ago and even more holes have filled since. Including some of the spaces between the holes.
  • I haven't seen the case moth since new year, it may have died.
