Morning in Bright

  • Heard the bronzewing as soon as we got out of the car. Managed to spot him high in a eucalypt branch
  • B saw two ganggangs fly through when I was in getting coffee. We walked the long way back around to the car in the hopes of seeing them, but no luck.
  • We saw four cormorants in the morning sun high in a eucalypt over the river. Glorious!
  • There was a family of ducks down by the bridge: mum and dad and six or seven teenagers :D

At home

  • There is still a koel around  town, calling every day.
  • We're still seeing wrens in the garden almost every day! :D
  • Wattlebird is still a constant presence too, as well as the yellow faces, thornbills and fantails.
  • Lots more corellas and cockatoos in town now. Corellas flying and calling at night, and large flocks roosting in town.
  • The magpie family is still around

Other notes

  • Haven't seen the bluetongue again
  • I found the new paper wasp nest! It's around the back, under the eaves and is very active. ALSO just todfay, Brett found one on our front side fence, but on the neighbours side.
  • The wasp house is very very busy now with many full holes, all stuffed with grass. I should take a photo. But instead, here are some cormorants.
